Think Twice Before Using Cash4Gold

You’ve seen the commercials: MC Hammer and Ed McMahon (R.I.P., Ed) showing all the bling they could sell to Cash4Gold to help them make it through hard times.

Turns out Cash4Gold may be (gasp!) t0o good to be true.  New York Representative Anthony D. Weiner is pushing for an investigation by the Federal Trade Commission to look into Cash4Gold’s practices.  “In many cases, Cash4Gold is just a golden opportunity for citizens to be ripped off,” Mr. Weiner said at a recent press conference.  Among his charges: that Cash4Gold paid only 11 percent to 29 percent of the actual value of valuables sent to them, and often refused to send jewelry back when it was asked to do so within the 12-day period.

Read more about the charges and Cash4Gold’s response at the New York Times.
