An Arapahoe county judge has told the city of Centennial that it could not shut down a medical marijuana dispensary, disagreeing with the city’s position that it could not use federal law as a pretext to shut down the dispensary.
According to an article in the Denver Post:
The rationale Centennial used in forcing the dispensary to shut down — that, because the business distributed marijuana contrary to federal law, it was in violation of the city’s land- use code — is one also adopted by a number of other local governments to block dispensaries from opening in their communities, including Aurora, Castle Rock and Greenwood Village.
These things are popping up all over the place! Unfortunately (fortunately?), I am completely out of the loop as to the regulations related to medical marijuana dispensary. Do you need a prescription to get pot from these places? Can you just go in with a bad cough? Are the employees walking around in labcoats? Ed Hardy t-shirts? Someone clue me in.
